I enjoy the basic gameplay, and I'd like to experiment with all the different parts combinations for the car, but at this rate I'll never get to try most of them because I can never afford them. I don't buy useless upgrades like the light rack (because I usually can't afford any, anyway). Despite smuggling a couple times, I didn't get fined once (if I had it would've been the end of me). I keep an eagle eye out for boxes, wrecks and those scrapyards with new parts in them. I rarely crash and haven't hit a single pothole. The thing is, I've asked a friend for tips and consulted numerous guides, and I don't think I'm making any terrible mistakes.
#Jalopy game turkey update
In the real version of this update that doesnt involve Priscilla and me Thelma and Louising it off a cliff or doing Carpool Karaoke, the Turkey update has added that country as a new environment/route in the game. And then all it takes is one more lean stretch where I find nothing of use, and it's back to barely limping to the next town, and having to sell the crowbar and/or jack kit to be able to pay for the motel at the end of the day. The turkey is called Priscilla and has replaced Jalopys Uncle character in my head. The best loot I've ever found is one bottle of wine at a time, but even the money I made from selling those on a few occasions just barely got me back up to working condition - it was never enough to buy any real upgrades. Even smuggling doesn't help because the one time I thought I'd be clever and spend some of my precious marks on some coffee to sell the next country over (because the newspaper hinted it'd be valuable there), the only service station I reached in that country refused to buy the coffee at all, forcing me to sell it at a loss later.

Most of the time it's just crap like textiles. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I very rarely get anything of significant value in the boxes I find along the road. I mean, shit, I modded STALKER to make it harder.īut the economy here is just punishing. The game follows two characters, the player and their uncle, who attempt to build a Laika (a car modelled after the Trabant 601) from individual parts and drive from East Berlin to Turkey using it. Your player is taking his uncle on a trip all the way through the Eastern Bloc, starting in East Germany and eventually heading for Turkey. Jalopy is a simulation video game developed by British indie studio Minskworks and published by Excalibur Publishing.

I'm used to frustratingly hard games in general, including ones which involve a fair bit of resource management. One such game to investigate this phenomenon is Jalopy, a truly unique game that's based around a memorable road-trip.

#Jalopy game turkey free
To be clear, it's not that I expect a free ride here. And no, it wasn't because I didn't see those problems coming, I knew what I needed, it's just that I never have enough money to cover even the basics. I'm new to this game and it definitely has its own kind of charm that I appreciate, but is it supposed to be so damn hard? From Dresden to Turkey, every single leg of my journey was an arduous slog which, at its lowest points, involved driving sliding on three flat tyres for half of a stage, and pushing the car 5 kms to the next town having run out of fuel.
